What Bastion Does
Bastion is an evidence-governance testing system. It decomposes text into atomic claims, searches the web for corroborating evidence, then runs a dual-pass causal test (CCT) and multi-model consensus panel to assess whether each claim can be corroborated.
Bastion also performs cross-claim coherence analysis to detect narrative-level patterns where individually plausible claims are collectively suspicious.
Bastion does not determine truth. It reports what its automated verification process found at the time of the check.
Limitations of Retrieval
Bastion's evidence search is bounded by what is available on the public web at the time of the check. This means:
- Web search is incomplete and can be gamed. SEO manipulation, content farms, and coordinated publishing can produce false corroboration.
